British psych fans may know this song as the -b- side to Rainbow Chaser by the original Nirvana. Father Bloopy fans may ask why another obscure -b- side by this so-called Nirvana? We first heard Flashbulb as a bonus track on the 2003 reissue of The existence of chance is everything and nothing while the greatest achievement is the living of life, and so say All Of Us and loved it. It’s arrangement is very much of the time … but it just felt like this was the song Kurt would’ve like to have covered in his Nirvana. We try to bring the song closer to Seattle. I think we reach it half-way, which being that we are in Miami, it kind of makes sense.
Now the song matter itself still speaks of things today, the Britney people if you may and the destruction of the flashbulb dream. What does it mean to you?
Basic tracks (drums, bass, gtr) were laid down live @ the Tropical Barber Shack on four tracks bounced to stereo 2-track which was shipped (via courier) to Dippy Studios for completion on November 19-20th 2007. Also recorded were a cover of Brian Eno’s Cindy Tells Me which will appear on the FemmeFest compilation CD in December. Additionally, two demos for the “new” songs were put down. This marks Carolina’s first appearance on Father Bloopy recordings.
Special thanks to Alex Spyropouls and Patrick Campbell-Lyons, the original Nirvana and songwriters, for their invaluable support and assistance and helping us keep the magic going!!
Listen to Flashbulb.
